James O'Halloran

James O'Halloran, Director of Bands

Mr. O’Halloran holds a Bachelor of Music (with emphasis in music education) from Arizona State University where he studied classical guitar with Frank Koonce, and an AA in Guitar Performance from Glendale Community College where he studied with Bonnie Toigo. During his time at ASU and GCC, James performed in many master classes with several international artists including Christopher Parkening, Enric Madriguera, William Kanengiser, David Brandon, and Nikita Koshkin.

As an educator, Mr. O’Halloran has taught band from the 4th grade level up through high school. He has been recognized by the Deer Valley Unified School District as one of their outstanding instrumental instructors over the past few years. In 2012 the Jaguar Pride Marching Band earned their highest state championship placement (5th place – Division II) in the school’s history. Later that year the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band also earned their first Superior with Distinction ratings at the state concert festival under his direction.

Mr. O’Halloran is married to Mrs. O’Halloran (duh!) and has three amazing children: Dominique, Lexi, and Quinn. In his spare time, Mr. O’Halloran enjoys watching soccer, doing household projects, and reciting random movie quotes to his family, friends, and students.
